Six blood-brothers have gathered on the path towards inner strength
and wisdom, every man a universe, each an elder of his instrument.
The strength and voice of Pete "Wyoming" Benders brings a unity
to this multiplicity of visions. Together they illuminate Benders'
come from, wherever we go, we are obligated to remain vigilant and
active in the face of oppression. As long as the suffering of Native
Americans is ignored, as long as the abuse of other folk, groups
and individuals are disregarded, we must react, fighting together
for a humane world devoid of war. In this way we accept that our
personal goals may not be the goals or meaning of our life's way
On each new
listening, this group's music becomes more and more spellbinding.
The musicians' joy in playing together is obvious; each is intent
on placing their individual egos to the service of the group. The
results are breathtaking improvisations within sensitive arrangements.
The music combines a dazzling array of Native American songs, Afro-American
rhythms, and jazz, assembled in manner that sounds preordained.
